In the fall of 2018, Stanford Women in Design hosted “Navigating Design,” a conference centered around directing paths in the design industry. Over the course of the conference, leaders in the design industry shared their insight on various design topics—from education to community to industry skills—during keynote talks and panels. Over the course of the conference, speakers opened up conversations about how to manage being a female industrial designer in a very male-dominated space, the keys to finding strong mentorship, and different ways to use the design thinking elements for social impact. The conference was open to the public, drawing in both Stanford students and many members of the greater design community.
