OUR LEADERSHIP TEAM
BOARD MEMBERS
Together we establish the vision of Stanford Women in Design and supervise all five teams and several hundred members to empower the creative confidence of women across disciplines.
DESIGN PARTNERSHIPS
How might we integrate diverse perspectives to illuminate how design can be applied across disciplines? How can design be applied to fields such as business, technology, government, and social impact…how can we use design to change the world?
The Design Partnerships team bridges the SWID community with our growing Executive Advisory Board through established mentorship programs, hands-on workshops, and lunches. This team also manages partnerships with other on-campus student organizations to explore the intersection of design with non-traditional fields, leads Q&A panels with Product Design students, and develops our campus-wide design challenge.
DESIGN COMMUNITY
How might we connect SWID students with the broader community to foster meaningful, lasting connections?
The External Relations team connects students with external opportunities, whether that be through organizing design treks to industry-leading companies such as IDEO, Pinterest, and Sequoia Design Lab, creating design-related internship and other opportunities for members, or through publishing our weekly newsletter. Furthermore, the External Relations team invites prominent designers to campus for intimate coffee chats and fireside chats and to lead workshops for our annual fall conference.
MARKETING
How might we craft our brand as Stanford’s preeminent organization for students passionate about design?
The Marketing team consists of creatives, communicators, and strategists dedicated to building a strong brand image and increasing our brand presence on campus (e.g. working with the Stanford Daily). Marketing works closely with other teams to develop marketing strategy and create campaigns for all events put on by SWID. Additionally, marketing is responsible for getting the word out about SWID through designing graphics for social media platforms, fliers, gear, and website.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
How might we delve deeper into our future as people who practice design? What do we want to work on and where do we find inspiration?
This fall, the Professional Development team will be focusing on helping aspiring designers and creatives, especially those who are close to joining the industry, to learn from professionals of various design disciplines. By empowering our members to connect with designers of various identities, experiences, and passions, we aim to learn more about our own passions and discover new opportunities for meaningful work.
